Dr. Ryder Reed, MD, MPH

Dr. Ryder Reed is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon specializing in the treatment of a broad spectrum of spinal disorders, including common degenerative conditions as well as complex spinal reconstruction. 

Dr. Reed emphasizes getting patients back to doing what they love with the people they love. He prioritizes shared decision-making and seeks the least invasive treatment that can provide a durable solution and help patients return to their normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.

Originally from South Sioux City, Nebraska, Dr. Reed has maintained a strong connection to the state throughout his life and career. 

Dr. Reed graduated Summa cum laude as a double-major from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with departmental honors. 

He attended the Creighton University School of Medicine in
Omaha, Nebraska where he earned membership to the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honor society. From there, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
before completing the Norton Leatherman Spine Fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky.

When possible, Dr. Reed aims to preserve or restore motion in the spine. Through his training, Dr. Reed has gained expertise that spans routine degenerative spine problems
through complex reconstruction, including:
– Neck and low back pain
– Herniated and bulging discs
– Spinal stenosis
– Radiculopathy, sciatica, and pinched nerves
– Spinal cord compression and myelopathy
– Spondylosis and disc degeneration
– Scoliosis, kyphosis, and spinal deformity
– Spinal instability

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, and two dogs. Together, they enjoy staying active, going to concerts, and working in the garage on cars and home improvement projects.
