Prior to surgery at Nebraska Spine Hospital, each patient will have a detailed phone call with one of our nurse navigators. During this call, our nurse navigators will cover a lot of information pertaining to your medical history and upcoming surgery, including how to handle your medications before surgery. In addition, you will also receive a call from our pharmacy to verify your current medications.

One of the ways we do that is with a pre-surgery phone call from one of our nurse navigators. These phone calls are scheduled in advance and generally last 45-60 minutes. We recommend that patients have a piece of paper available to take notes during this call.

While the most common type of scoliosis occurs in adolescents, the risk of scoliosis doesn’t completely go away. Degenerative scoliosis occurs when there is significant degeneration of the facet joints and intervertebral discs in your spine.
